From the nicely appointed cabins to the many activities on and off the property, whether you want to relax in Nature’s quiet, get out and play, or just soak up the healing, there are countless activities in and around the quirky and historical gold rush towns of Nevada City and Grass Valley! In Room Amenities:
Each cabin and room at HeartSpace has been lovingly appointed with all of the things one may need. From coffee, teas, toiletries, kitchen utensils, extra blankets and pillows, and more thoughtful touches. Occasionally we are able to provide fresh eggs, produce from our gardens, and other local goodies!
Starlink Wireless Satellite Internet!
When the rest of the city ‘s internet is down, you’re still high-speed streaming in the comfort of your room. Heartspace is one of the first retreat properties in the area to offer Starlink High-Speed Internet!
Off-Grid Power and Heat throughout!
HeartSpace has a state-of-the-art multi-thousand-dollar generator system and off-grid gas heating system in all its cabins that ensures the power won’t go out during any mountain storm, nor will you be cold! Each cabin has a small kitchen, bathtub, and all the amenities you need, plus, the hot tub will be warm!
Hot Tub
Enjoy our Hot Tub year-round. We keep it sparkling clean and free of high levels of chemicals. The pool adjacent to it makes an excellent cold-plunge, especially in winter.
Swimming Pool
Enjoy swimming, floating, or lounging by our beautiful pool in the summer, or using it as an exhilarating cold plunge in the winter. The view from the decks, tubs, and pool is breathtaking.
The Yurt
A beautiful 30 foot yurt by Pacific Yurts, complete with a sound system, heating/cooling, lighting and other amenities, and is perfect for yoga or meditation. It is also available for classes, ceremonies, and other events.
Focus on Yourself
Take time to slow down and focus on yourself, even if for an hour or two. Not only will the peaceful energy of HeartSpace touch your soul, we have many secluded benches and areas great for reading or meditation. Warm bath and candles, but need some bubble bath? We got you. Scotts Flat Lake
Scotts Flat Lake is just 5 minutes away from Heart Space Ranch by car, or a 20 minute hike through the forest. Enjoy kayaking, fishing, swimming, biking, or hiking around this magnificent lake.
Lake Tahoe
The Jewel of the Sierras. Only 90 minutes away, Lake Tahoe is a lifetime must-see destination. Many consider it the most beautiful lake in the world. The Natives called it “The Lake of the Sky” and it was considered highly sacred in many cultures. One glimpse and you’ll fall in love with the area.
Donner Lake
Donner Memorial State Park is located in the scenic the Sierra Nevada mountain range at an elevation of about 6,000 feet.
This legendary alpine park offers summer camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, water-skiing, and hiking. During winter, visitors can cross-country ski, snowshoe on trails, and play in the snow. Visitors are welcome year-round to visit the famous Pioneer Monument, built to commemorate the California emigrants traveling west during the mid-1800's.
Mountain Biking
The foothills around Nevada City are a new hotbed of mountain biking activity. Scenery, terrain, climate, access, new trails, supplies and services, and a local history of elite active sports competition, all contribute to the town’s MTB appeal. This is an area where advanced mountain bikers from San Francisco, Sacramento and Reno can “bring it” for the week or weekend – there’s lots to explore. “Bicyclists of Nevada County” page is a great place to start.

Hiking
Nevada City is fortunate enough to have the Tahoe National Forest as its back yard. With over 655 miles of accessible trails, numerous State Park, BLM and National Forest camp sites and unlimited lakes, rivers and streams for fishing enthusiasts, Nevada City has become known as “ground-zero” for non-motorized recreational participants. Castle Peak, Grouse Ridge and the Sierra Buttes areas host the Pacific Crest Trail, known to hikers from around the world as the prime hiking route of the western United States.

We are proud to be a dog-friendly property and would be happy to accommodate your pet for a small additional fee. Please inquire upon booking your stay for more information. We work hard to maintain an atmosphere of peace and tranquility at HeartSpace, and reserve the right to refuse any pet for any reason, at any time, inlcluding during one’s stay.
Since HeartSpace strives to make everyone (including our furry family) comfortable and happy, we provide a list of dog-sitters, walkers, and similar things on our community page.
Massage and Healing
Nevada City is renowned for it’s amazing community of healers, bodyworkers, and positive energy for healing. Please visit our community page for more information, and some healers and destinations we recommend.
Events, Ceremonies, and Weddings
HeartSpace is perfect for event such as the above and more. Our huge yurt comes complete with a sound system and comfortable seating, among other things. We also have a Native American teepee on site for Native ceremonies. Inquire with the hosts for more information.
Mushroom hunting and plant identification
If you’re into biology, botany, mycology, or just like to check out cool new plants, the entire area is filled with amazing biodiversity. Ask a host to borrow one of our Plant ID books!
Stargazing and Skywatching
Many of our guests have commented on the excellent stargazing and skywatching conditions at HeartSpace. Due to it’s location, light pollution is very low, and there are several vantage points that are perfect for getting a good view of the sky.
Mountain Biking
The area around HeartSpace is world-renowned for it’s MTB trails. Easy access from HeartSpace for mountain bikers is a huge plus. There are several guides and groups in the area that can help you maximize your experience. HeartSpace is working to provide maps, a bike repair station, and other little touches that cater to our mountain biking guests.

Kayaking, SUP and other watersports
HeartSpace is very close to two beautiful alpine lakes. Both are a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute hike away. They are ideal for kayaking, Stand Up Paddleboarding, swimming, and much more! The Upper (larger) lake is also ideal for boating / waterskiing activities. HeartSpace boasts a number of watercraft and water toys to borrow!
Emerald Pools
This mellow walk takes you to the Emerald Pools which is a popular swimming hole along the Yuba River. The pools are known for their clear, emerald green water. You'll walk along the Pioneer Trail for a short distance to a spur trail that takes you down to the pools. To get down to the pools themselves, some rock hopping is required. This spot is great for swimming, hanging out, picnicking, and spending the afternoon in the sun. You may even want to bring your snorkeling gear! This beautiful spot can get very crowded during the summer months, and parking is limited. It is a good idea to get here early.
